How To Apply

To be admitted to graduate study in chemistry at the University of Georgia, a student must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field and should have a distinguished undergraduate record. Applications are accepted for Fall semester enrollment. Some special fellowship opportunities such as UGA Graduate School Assistantships and Presidential Fellowships require an application deadline of December 15. All applicants will automatically be considered for these special fellowships upon receipt of a completed application. Therefore, we suggest that the prospective student arrange for his or her application materials to arrive as early as possible. Please contact the Chemistry Graduate Program for additional information about these special fellowship opportunities. The Departmental Application Completion Deadline is January 31 and this is to guarantee your application will receive full consideration by the Departmental Admissions Committee. We will still review applications after that deadline, but we cannot guarantee full consideration if your application remains incomplete past that date. Overview of the Application and Admissions Process

Required materials include:

• Official GRE test scores are NOT REQUIRED for Fall 2024 admission. If you have taken the GRE, then they can be used as supplementary information. The UGA institutional code for Educational Testing Service (i.e., GRE and TOEFL reporting) is 5813.
• Names and contact information (email addresses) for individuals providing letters of recommendation Application for admission to either the M.S. or Ph.D. graduate program in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Georgia must be completed through the University of Georgia Graduate School online application. The direct link to this site is at the bottom of this page. Most all application materials and information are submitted through this site (such as GRE scores and contact information for individuals providing letters of recommendation). The general requirements and procedures are described below. Highly detailed instructions, including country-specific instructions for international applicants, can be found on the Graduate School home page. Graduate admission decisions are made cooperatively between the Department of Chemistry and the Graduate School Office of Graduate Admissions. The Department of Chemistry makes recommendations to the Chemistry Graduate Program, and the Graduate School provides the final, official acceptance.

• Official TOEFL iBT® or IELTS scores sent directly from the testing agencyTo expedite review, unofficial electronic scores can be uploaded as part of the online application, but official scores are required to finalize admission and release a decision on your file. • Certificate of Finances Form
  Only required if the applicant is accepted for admission.
